Albert Kilgore (NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C.)



NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Funeral Services for Mr. Albert Bryant Kilgore, Jr., 83, of Walnut Lane, North Augusta, SC, who died November 16, 2006, will be conducted Saturday at 12 Noon from the Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home. Dr. James C. Adams and Chaplain Dexter Lambert officiating. Interment in Westover Memorial Park. Mr. Kilgore was a native of Randolph County Georgia, a former resident of Elberton, GA and Macon, GA having recently made North Augusta his home. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Elberton, GA, where he formerly taught a young boys Sunday School Class and was a member of the choir. Mr. Kilgore was employed by United Merchants and Manufacturers of Elberton, GA for twenty-six years where he served as Head of Industrial Engineering and Department Manager. After retirement, he worked for Clark Schweil in Washington, GA as Department Manager, retiring from this job in l991. He was a graduate of Georgia Tech, Bruce Payne Associates, and a graduate of Georgia Alabama Business College, Macon, Georgia. He was also a graduate of Wesleyan Conservatory of Music and was a member of the Wesleyan Conservatory of Music Swing Band and Orchestra as a trumpet player. Mr. Kilgore was the son of the late Albert Bryant Kilgore, Sr. and Alta Dean Perkins Kilgore, the brother of the late Doris Louise Kilgore Hinson, brother-in-law of the late Col. Lewis C. Hinson and father-in-law of the late Mr. Robert Marion "Bob" Gamble. Survivors include his wife for over 60 years, Martha "Pat" Hudson Kilgore; two daughters and a son-in-law, Yvonne Gamble, Greenville, SC, Galan and John P. Potter, Jr., North Augusta, SC; three grandsons, John P. Potter, III, Addison Bryant Potter and Stephen Myles Potter, all of North Augusta; a sister, Mildred Dean Kilgore Willis and her husband, George A. Willis, III, Macon, GA Honorary Pallbearers will be Joan Savage-Clary, Wayne and Nell Sloan, Peggy Connell, Harry Chapman, Jr., Harry & Martha Miller and Charlotte Garrett. Active Pallbearers will be will be Dr. Robert Mauldin, Ken Brown, Lloyd Garrett, Bill McMullan, Odell Haston, Jimmy Vickory and Tony King. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Friday evening from 6 to 8.
