Melvin Elstein (AUGUSTA, Ga.)



AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Melvin Elstein, age 87, of Augusta passed away on Wednesday evening, November 15, 2006 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. A native of Brooklyn, NY, he had resided in the Augusta area since moving from Washington, DC in 1950. Melvin worked in Sales in several area stores and Florists. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, serving during WWII in the Eurpoean Theatre. His family and all that knew him will remember him as a gentle, kind and soft spoken man. Mr. Elstein is preceded in death by: a son, Jeffrey Elstein,who passed away in 2003. He is survived by: his wife of 56 years, Sara Steinberg Elstein; two sons, Morris Elstein (Sharon), Virginia Beach, VA, Samuel Elstein, Lawrenceville, GA; one daughter, Rivki Slepoy (Ephriam), Passaic, NJ; one brother, Herbert Elstein, Rockville, MD; grandchildren, Nathan Elstein, Jacob Elstein, David Elstein, Yussie Slepoy, Moshe Slepoy, Esti Slepoy, Akiva Slepoy, Devora Slepoy, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, on Friday, November 17, 2006 from the Graveside in Magnolia Cemetery with Rabbi David Siruell, officiating. Pallbearers will be: David Aaron Elstein, Jacob Harris Elstein, Nathan Jolles, M. Milton Steinberg, Jack Steinberg and Yussie Slepoy. The family will be sitting Shiva at the Sleep Inn, of Stevens Creek Road; Saturday night and Sunday.
