ELON, N.C. - Jerome Felton ran for two touchdowns to give Furman a 24-13 win over Elon on Saturday.

Felton, who had 10 carries for 25 yards, ran for a 2-yard score midway through the first quarter to give the Paladins a lead they never relinquished. Cedrick Gipson led Furman on the ground with 20 carries for 122 yards, and added a touchdown just before the half.

Wes Pope was 20-for-35 passing for 185 yards for the Phoenix. Michael Mayers had nine catches for 113 yards to lead Elon's receivers. T.J. Clegg ran for Elon's only touchdown midway through the fourth quarter.

Furman outgained Elon 409-298.

LIBERTY 21, WESTERN CAROLINA 0

In Lynchburg, Va., Zach Terrell rushed for 99 yards and a touchdown and Brandon Turner caught seven passes for 101 yards and another score as Liberty defeated Western Carolina.

Terrell and Rashad Jennings both scored on 2-yard runs for the Flames, who had a touchdown in each of the first three periods.

Darius Fudge led Western Carolina (2-7) with 102 yards on 23 carries. The Catamounts drove into Liberty territory six times, but fumbled the ball away twice, turned it over on downs three times and punted once.

APPALACHIAN STATE 42, THE CITADEL 13

In Boone, N.C., Kevin Richardson ran for three touchdowns, including a career-record 79-yarder, to lead Appalachian State over The Citadel.

Richardson rushed 148 yards on 17 carries to lead the Mountaineers, who tied a 1968 school record with their sixth 40-point game of the season.

Marques Murrell had two forced fumbles, including one picked up by Corey Lynch who returned it 25 yards to the end zone to give Appalachian State a 14-3 lead early in the second quarter.

JACKSONVILLE STATE 13, CHATTANOOGA 10

In Chattanooga, Tenn., Chattanooga quarterback Matt Lopez completed a five-yard pass to wide receiver Emanuel Hassell at the 3-yard line, but Hassell tripped short of the goal line as time expired allowing Jacksonville State to escape with the win.
