Bulldogs bowling at bottom

ATHENS, Ga. - No SEC champion has repeated as king of the conference since Tennessee won back-to-back titles in 1997-98, but the next season almost always still ended with a trip to a January bowl game.

Georgia, whose hopes of a second consecutive league title game appearance ended with Saturday's 21-14 loss to Florida, appears likely to go against that trend and become the first team since Alabama in 2000 to not land in an upper-tier bowl a year after winning the league title.

The Bulldogs (6-3, 3-3 SEC) have lost three of their past four games, and their postseason destination appears likely to be the Chick-fil-A, Independence, Music City or Liberty bowls.
