Marion Thomas Wolfe   (THOMSON, Ga.)
THOMSON, Ga. - Marion Thomas "Billy" Wolfe, age 88, is now rejoicing and laughing with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 26, 2006 at University Hospital. Mr. Wolfe was a native Augustan until moving to Thomson in 2001. Mr. Wolfe is the son of Thomas Wolfe and Bessie Hamilton Wolfe. Mr. Wolfe is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years, Bobbie Tweed Wolfe. Mr. Wolfe joined the Civil Conservation Corps at an early age. Afterwards, he was a member of the A Battery, 214th Army National Guard which was later converted to 255th Combat Engineers which saw battle during World War II in six major campaigns including those in Africa and Italy. He remained active and loved the quarterly meetings with his friends of this unit. Mr. Wolfe retired as a Captain on the City of Augusta Fire Department after 25 years of distinguished duty. At the time of his death, Mr. Wolfe had the distinction of being the oldest living retired firefighter of the City of Augusta. After retiring from the City, Mr. Wolfe worked at the Fire and Security Office at Gracewood State School and Hospital where he retired after 10 years of service. Billy was a loving, faithful and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh and joke. He loved all animals and they loved him. His loyal buddy, Lily, will miss him greatly. He was a member of Lake Park Baptist Church in Augusta for over 55 years. He felt that one of his greatest achievements was seeing all his current family members accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. His faith in God sustained him through many trials and tribulations, including the deaths of his parents; brother, Jack Wolfe; sisters, Betty Wolfe Barker and Frances Wolfe Newman and two stillborn children, Charles Allen and Marian Suzzanne. The message that he wanted to be his legacy is that Jesus Christ is the only way to Eternal Life. He especially loved young people and took every opportunity to share his faith and have them understand that doing the right and moral action might not be popular here on earth, but it's the only way to live against the evil in today's society. He believed if the Bible said it, there's no question - that is the guidebook to life. He practiced what he preached and lived his life accordingly. Survivors in addition to his wife include his two loving daughters, Betty Wolfe Bicknell, Thomson, Ga. and Rosemary Wolfe Robinson (Troy), Mitchell, Ga. PaPa is survived by five adoring grandchildren, Garry Wendell Randolph, II, (Stephanie), Charleston, S.C.; Bradley Thomas Steven Randolph (Lori), Thomson, Ga.; Billy Jack Clements, North Augusta, S.C.; Joshua David Clements, Mitchell, Ga.; and Miranda Barker, Thomson, Ga.
