Marion Thomas Wolfe   (THOMSON, Ga.)
THOMSON, Ga. - Marion Thomas "Billy" Wolfe, age 88, is now rejoicing and laughing with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 26, 2006 at University Hospital. Mr. Wolfe was a native Augustan until moving to Thomson in 2001. Mr. Wolfe is the son of Thomas Wolfe and Bessie Hamilton Wolfe. Mr. Wolfe is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years, Bobbie Tweed Wolfe. Mr. Wolfe joined the Civil Conservation Corps at an early age. Afterwards, he was a member of the A Battery, 214th Army National Guard which was later converted to 255th Combat Engineers which saw battle during World War II in six major campaigns including those in Africa and Italy. He remained active and loved the quarterly meetings with his friends of this unit. Mr. Wolfe retired as a Captain on the City of Augusta Fire Department after 25 years of distinguished duty. At the time of his death, Mr. Wolfe had the distinction of being the oldest living retired firefighter of the City of Augusta. After retiring from the City, Mr. Wolfe worked at the Fire and Security Office at Gracewood State School and Hospital where he retired after 10 years of service. Billy was a loving, faithful and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh and joke. He loved all animals and they loved him. His loyal buddy, Lily, will miss him greatly. He was a member of Lake Park Baptist Church in Augusta for over 55 years. He felt that one of his greatest achievements was seeing all his current family members accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. His faith in God sustained him through many trials and tribulations, including the deaths of his parents; brother, Jack Wolfe; sisters, Betty Wolfe Barker and Frances Wolfe Newman and two stillborn children, Charles Allen and Marian Suzzanne. The message that he wanted to be his legacy is that Jesus Christ is the only way to Eternal Life. He especially loved young people and took every opportunity to share his faith and have them understand that doing the right and moral action might not be popular here on earth, but it's the only way to live against the evil in today's society. He believed if the Bible said it, there's no question - that is the guidebook to life. He practiced what he preached and lived his life accordingly. Survivors in addition to his wife include his two loving daughters, Betty Wolfe Bicknell, Thomson, Ga. and Rosemary Wolfe Robinson (Troy), Mitchell, Ga. PaPa is survived by five adoring grandchildren, Garry Wendell Randolph, II, (Stephanie), Charleston, S.C.; Bradley Thomas Steven Randolph (Lori), Thomson, Ga.; Billy Jack Clements, North Augusta, S.C.; Joshua David Clements, Mitchell, Ga.; and Miranda Barker, Thomson, Ga. He had three great-grandchildren, Garry Wendell Randolph, III, Grovetown, Ga.; Gracie Jane Randolph, Thomson, Ga.; and Jordan McCoy, Charleston, S.C. He is also survived by his nephew, Tommy Edward Newman (Dale), of Columbus, Ga.; and nieces, Jill Barker Morganson (Michael), North Augusta, S.C.; and Joy Barker Gellately, Savannah, Ga. He has now had the pleasure to meet the great-granddaughter angel due on earthy in early December, Hannah Marian Randolph. James Radcliffe   (STATESBORO, Ga.)
STATESBORO, Ga. - Mr. James Henry "Chick" Radcliffe, Sr., age 70, died Wednesday at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. He was a native of Burke Co., grew up Waynesboro, and moved to Statesboro in 1956 with the Georgia Army National Guard (GaARNG). He was a 1954 graduate of Waynesboro High School where he was recognized as an outstanding and gifted athlete excelling in football and basketball. Mr. Radcliffe earned the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. He served as a Civilian Technician for 36 years with the GaARNG before ending his military career as Property Book Officer overseeing all property and inventory of the National Guard Training Center at Ft. Stewart for 6 years. Mr. Radcliffe retired with 42 years service to the GaARNG as a Warrant Officer Grade 4, the highest obtainable rank for a non-commissioned officer in the US Military. He served as President of the Statesboro Jaycees as well as Region 10 President of Jaycees, and was instrumental in the construction of the Jaycee Field at the Fair Road Recreation Center in Statesboro. He was a founding member and Past President of Minutemen Investors during which time the club was recognized as one of the Top Ten Investment Clubs in the US. Mr. Radcliffe was a huge fan of Georgia Southern Eagles Football and was a season ticket holder and contributor from its inception until the present. He was a former member of the Statesboro First Baptist Church and a current member of Ways Baptist Church in Wrens, Ga. He was a founding member and former president of the Clarence Brack "Top Five" Club, a National Guard NCO organization. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Joanne Swan Radcliffe of Statesboro; two sons, James Henry Radcliffe, Jr. of Hiram, Ga. and Woodrow Swan Radcliffe and his wife Linda Hoffman Radcliffe of Carlisle, Penn.; one daughter, Sara Joanne Radcliffe Cook and her husband Scott Miller Cook of Atlanta; his sister, Kathryn Radcliffe Hamilton and her husband Joe Hamilton of Martinez, Ga.; four grandchildren, Sara Carson Cook, Alexander James Radcliffe, Elise Joanne Radcliffe, and John Thomas "Jack" Radcliffe; his sister-in-law, Connie S. He and his wife moved to Augusta, Georgia in 1962 where he became a State Farm Insurance Agent. Mr. Jennings is survived by his wife, the Reverend Dr. Gloria Johnson Jennings; his son, Guy E. Jennings, III and daughter-in-law, Mary Helen Aquire Jennings; of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; his son, David E. Jennings and daughter-in-law, Lisa Graf Jennings of Athens, Georgia; three grandchildren, William A. Jennings, Davis F. Jennings and Kathryn G. Jennings. Other survivors include a brother, Mr. Joe Bobby Jennings; sister-in-law, Marilyn Langley Jennings of LaFayette, Alabama; his nephews, Mark Johnson, Michael Jennings; and nieces, Karen L. Mr. Jennings graduated from Jacksonville State University. After graduation he entered the U.S. Army where he served in the accounting office at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He retired in December, 2004, after 44 years as a State Farm Insurance Agent in Augusta. As an agent he received a number of awards in excellence from State Farm Insurance Company including those that took him to national and international locations. In addition to his family, of central importance in his life was his service in and through the Church of Jesus Christ. As a member and deacon of First Baptist Church, Augusta, Georgia, he served as Chairman of the Board of Deacons, Moderator of the Church, Stewardship Chairman, choir member, and was active on numerous church committees including participation in the work of Habitat for Humanity. In 2005, Mr. Jennings was elected a Deacon Emeritus of First Baptist. As a Committed Christian, Mr. Jennings also actively supported his wife in her service as a Presbyterian minister. He was a former member of the Augusta Toast Masters Club; a member and former president of the Uptown Kiwanis Club where he participated in a number of charitable activities. He also served as a former member of the Mental Health Board in Augusta.
