MOVIE NIGHT: Saw III opens. This time Jigsaw has an apprentice and some grand plot to get his psychotic kicks.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Cross Creek travels to Glenn Hills; Thomson goes to Harlem and Westside is at Laney, all at 7:30 p.m. In South Carolina, Aiken takes on North Augusta at 8 p.m.; Barnwell is at Silver Bluff; and Midland Valley takes on Strom Thurmond at home, both at 7:30.


FAIRLY EXCITING: The Georgia-Carolina State Fair begins at the Hale Street Fairgrounds in Augusta through Nov. 5. On Saturday, the student special includes free admission from 10 a.m. to noon with the purchase of a $20 unlimited ride ticket. Regular gate admission is $7. Visit www.georgiacarolinastatefair.com.
