Thurman Yarbrough (AIKEN, S.C.)



AIKEN, S.C. - Mr. Thurman Charles 'Charlie' Yarbrough, 60, of 2535 Golden Bridge Ct., Aiken, SC died Monday, October 23, 2006 at his residence after a long battle with lung cancer. Charlie served his country during the Vietnam War, receiving an honorable discharge in 1969. He is survived by his wife, Clara; sons Joe Clevenger, New Ellenton, Mike Clevenger, Albany, OH; and one daughter, Debra Townsend, North Augusta, SC. He was the proud 'pawpaw' of Andrea, age 20, Amber, age 16, Ashley, age 12, Nicholas, age 10. He is also survived by his brothers, Vernon Yarbrough, Harry Yarbrough. His parents, Virgil and Glema McCormick Yarbrough, and his brother, Danny Yarbrough, preceded him in death. Charlie was a past master of the Masonic Lodge of New Ellenton and was also a member of the American Legion. He loved to fish, hunt and work in his greenhouse. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday in the Shellhouse -Rivers Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Mark Hudson will officiate. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 1817 Gadsden Street, Columbia, SC29201-2392.
