Rose F. Berry (COLUMBIA, S.C.)

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Graveside service for Rose F. Berry, 98, will be held Tuesday at 12 noon in Hebrew Benevolent Society Cemetery. Rabbi David Siff will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Mrs. Berry, wife of the late Nathan Berry, died Monday, October 23, 2006. Born in Jersey City, N.J., she was the youngest of six children of the late Philip and Katie Fierman, who were fortunate to escape eastern Europe shortly after the turn of the century. From the age of two, she was raised in Macon, Ga. She was a member of Beth Shalom Synagogue and for many years the Columbia Country Club. Mrs. Berry enjoyed her family and friends to the fullest. She was a joy to be around and her laugh could always be heard. Her sweetness was felt by all. Her passion was golf and she played until the age of eighty-five. She claimed that was what kept her so young. She also played bridge until that age. Her cakes and mandle bread were known far and wideÉ.and they were the best. Left to cherish Mrs. Berry's memory are her daughter, Annette Berry Barton of Augusta, Ga.; daughter-in-law, Cyd Glasser Berry of Columbia; grandchildren, Neil Berry and Kathy Berry, both of Augusta, Scott Berry and wife, Gina, and Kirk Berry, all of Columbia; niece, Booty Bedinger and her husband, Henry of Columbia; and dear friend, Carla Davis. She was predeceased by son, Marvin "Bookie" Berry. The family expresses their sincere gratitude to all of Mrs. Berry's caretakers; Louise Neuman, May Bell Golson, Barbara Cooper, Mary Hogg, Thelma Thompson and Alfreda Brewer. They were kind, compassionate and professional. www.dunbarfunerals.com Sign the guestbook at AugustaChronicle.com
