Cold front will blow in today
A cold front will bring much cooler temperatures today and throughout the week, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Leonard Vaughan.
Mr. Vaughan said people should expect low temperatures in the 30s, with a chance for frost in the low-lying areas of Richmond and Columbia counties. The highs will stay in the 60s before warming a bit by Wednesday, Mr. Vaughan said.
A second front will begin to move across the East Coast at the end of the week, bringing more cool weather next week, he said.
Man is killed after car slams into tree
A Swainsboro man was killed after he lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a tree Saturday night, according to Georgia State Patrol Sgt. Chris Lacienski.
Charles Edward Kirkland, 34, died at the scene of the accident on Powell Drive just west of Nunez, Ga., Sgt. Lacienski said.
Devante Kirkland, 12, Mr. Kirkland's nephew, also was in the car, but Sgt. Lacienski would only say that the boy was not killed in the accident.
Judicial candidates will debate at ASU
Candidates for Augusta Judicial Circuit Superior Court will face off tonight at Augusta State University.

Grovetown City Hall will offer flu shots
Flu shots will be given out from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Grovetown City Hall, the Columbia County Health Department said. The cost is $20 per dose.
About 250 doses are available; more vaccine is supposed to be shipped early next month.
Participants are asked to bring Medicaid, Medicare Part B or CMO cards.
Aiken GOP invites candidates to rally
The Aiken County Republican Club and Republican Party have invited all GOP candidates running for statewide office to a rally today in Aiken.

Veterans Day parade coming Nov. 10
The CSRA-Augusta Veterans Day Parade will take place Nov. 10 at 10 a.m.
It will begin at Sacred Heart Cultural Center at 13th and Greene streets, head along Broad Street and end at Fourth Street. A post-parade ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at the All Wars Monument.
