HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - John Arthur Hancock, Sr., 87, beloved husband of Vera Bradford Hancock for 66 years died in his home on Thursday, October 19, 2006. He was born on November 8, 1918 in Cook County, Ga., to the late Joe Adam and Clifford Lee Griner Hancock. Mr. Hancock retired from the John P. King Manufacturing Company "King Mill" in 1984 after 45 years of service and was a member of the VFW, Masons, and the Cattle Association of Burke County. He was a veteran who served in the United States Army during peace time and the United States Navy during WWII. In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons, John A. Hancock, Jr. and his wife Lisa, of Franklin, TN; Winston D. Hancock and his wife Betsy, of Augusta; Clifford Lee Hancock and his wife Debra, of Hephzibah; ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and one sister, Glossie Giddens. Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 22, 2006 in the Chapel of DeLoach - Kennedy Funeral Home, Hephzibah, with Rev. Dan Bowen officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2006 at DeLoach - Kennedy Funeral Home, Hephzibah.
