Although Raja Turman is only 4 years old, with an upcoming chance to place $10,000 toward his college tuition he might begin to rank his favorite campuses.
"We think it's wonderful," said Raja's mother Sheila Turman, with a smile. "It's a really good chance (for his education)."
The Augusta boy is among a field of 64 children in the 4- to 8-year-old category of The Augusta Chronicle's Make Kids Count scholarship contest.
Thirty-two names were drawn Thursday in the Pumpkin Patch at Fat Man's Forest on Laney-Walker Boulevard. They will move on to the next stage of the $10,000 scholarship giveaway.
The newspaper is in its fourth year as a sponsor of the quarterly contest, which has distributed more than $260,000 in scholarships to 208 youths ages 18 and younger.
