Mr. Dodson was a native of Schneider, IN. He was a graduate of Springfield High School in Springfield, Oregon. He had lived in the Augusta area for the past 46 years and was a graduate of the Augusta Business School. Mr. Dodson served in the U.S. Army as Photographer, where he met and photographed many interesting people, including Ike Eisenhower. He retired from the Medical College of Georgia after serving 13 years in the Central Energy Dept. as the Energy Services Technician. He also worked for Bi-Lo Grocery Store as a manager for 13 years. Mr. Dodson was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church. His family said he was the most wonderful husband, father, "Papa" and friend anyone could ever have. He enjoyed fishing and enjoyed teaching each of his grandchildrenhow to swim. In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughters: Debbie D. Gahman and her husband Merv of Martinez ; Janet D. Ruby enjoyed crafting and sewing and was so very proud that she got to see her latest grandchild, Byron, born on July 29. DuPont (Savannah River Site) after thirty three years of service and worked for Westinghouse another three years. MCG AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest on Wednesday, October 4, 2006, at the Medical College of Georgia, Mr. Gerald Kenneth Dodson, beloved husband of Mrs. Kathy B. Dodson for 49 years. Mr. Dodson was a native of Schneider, IN. He was a graduate of Springfield High School in Springfield, Oregon. He had lived in the Augusta area for the past 46 years and was a graduate of the Augusta Business School. Mr. Dodson served in the U.S. Army as Photographer, where he met and photographed many interesting people, including Ike Eisenhower. He retired from the Medical College of Georgia after serving 13 years in the Central Energy Dept. as the Energy Services Technician. He also worked for Bi-Lo Grocery Store as a manager for 13 years. Mr. Dodson was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church. His family said he was the most wonderful husband, father, "Papa" and friend anyone could ever have. In 1992, he was elected to the Richmond County Board of Education, where he served in the capacities of President and Chairman of the Building Committee. Mr. Stein was active in several community organizations: the Evening Optimist Club, Richmond County Board of Elections, Richmond County Board of Health, CSRA Classic, Richmond County Board of Retired Teachers Association and the Juneteenth Society of Augusta.
