In 1966 he established Stokes Consulting Foresters and continued to operate the business until his death, making it the oldest Forest Management firm in the area. Mr. Stokes promoted his chosen profession through the Society of Consulting Foresters, Society of American Foresters and The Georgia Forestry Association. He served for 12 years on the Georgia State Board of Registration for Foresters. He was a long time member of the Steadfast Sunday School Class at the First Baptist Church in Swainsboro.
