A RAVE FOR the T.W. Josey High School marching band. The performance at Friday's Glenn Hills vs. Josey game was outstanding. Under the supervision of Mr. Luther McDaniel, you did it with class and style. Hats are off to you. Sonic Boom of the South is coming back.

CHILDREN'S BACKPACKS ARE too heavy. The teachers should take notice of this and maybe instead of sending books home for homework they could send worksheets or have the children do something on paper and not have to carry the heavy books.

RAVE: I WOULD LIKE to thank Bradford Health Services' staff for their programs and services. I met their new community marketing representative as she was going around to all the middle and high schools educating parents and students on alcohol and drug awareness - a big need in our community.

I JUST RECEIVED a call from some woman selling insurance, and she informed me I was the rudest person she had ever talked to. I would like to know why these people think they have the right to call me at my home and try to sell me anything!

WHAT KIND OF SOCIETY do we live in when a man gets 30 years in prison for roasting a dog and a doctor that kills a person gets two years' probation?

YOU COMMISSIONERS care more about your little vacations to Hawaii instead of the city employees' jobs. I guarantee you, no city employee will vote for you come election time. We've already - all us employees - talked about it. None of you will be back.

THERE IS A DIFFERENCE between immigrants and illegal aliens. Immigrants are the people who come into this country legally. Illegal aliens are not immigrants.

IN CAMDEN, S.C., a man has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for killing a 5-year-old boy who lived on his street with an automobile. In Richmond County, a man kills an 18-year-old boy with an automobile and is given 24 months' probation.
