James J. Carr (AUGUSTA, Ga.)



AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. James Joseph Carr, 84, entered into rest on Saturday, September 16, 2006, at his residence. Mr. Carr was a native of Johnson City, NY, and graduated from State University of New York . He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps for 20 years including 33 months in the European Theatre of Operations in WWII. After moving to Augusta in 1963, he worked for the Dept. of the Army as a civilian. Mr. Carr was a member of Warren Baptist Church. Mr. Carr was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Mary Ellen Carr and his brother John Carr. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Poole Carr of Augusta; four daughters Joanne C. and husband Isaac Holton of Martinez, Judy C. and husband Craig Allen of Watkinsville, Janet C. and husband Gates Peed of Statesboro and Jean C. and husband John Chamblee of Peachtree City; eight grandchildren, Simon Peed, Harrison Peed, Abigal Peed and Clate Peed of Statesboro, Stephanie Allen and Nicholas Allen of Watkinsville and Jarrod Chamblee and Jennifer Chamblee of Peachtree City; a brother, Joseph M.and wife Marie Carr of Moneta, VA. Additional survivors include sisters-in-law, a brother -in-law and nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at Westover Memorial Park on Monday, September 18, 2006, 11:00 AM, with military honors. Rev. Terry Doss will be officiating. Memorials may be made to Warren Baptist Church Family Life Center, 3203 Washington Rd., Augusta, 30907.
