Guill Johnson (THOMSON, Ga.)



THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. (Bob) Guill Johnson, age 70 , entered into rest September 15, 2006 at Select Specialty Hospital in Augusta, Ga. .A resident since early childhood of Thomson, GA. . He was the son of the late Bob Poole Johnson and Aelise Kitchens Johnson. The funeral will be held at 4:00 PM , Monday, September 18, 2006 at the Thomson First United Methodist Church with Revs. Brian Davis and Liza Marler officiating. Interment will follow at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens . Pallbearers will be : Lewis Smith, David Hinesley, Bill Mabry, Howell Roberts, Rusty Lovelace and L.D. " Sonny" Pierce . Honorary Pallbearers will be the Thomson Rotary Club and the Men's Bible Class of the Thomson First United Methodist Church. Mr. Johnson is survived by a sister , Jeanette J. Rowe of Beaufort, SC and a friend , Virginia Rogers of Thomson. He is survived by a fourth cousin , James Earl Carter, Jr. of Plains, GA. . He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Thomson. There he was a member of the Church Council , the Men's Bible Class, a member of the Chancel Choir and a member of the Handbell Choir. He was a member of the Thomson Rotary Club and a member of the A. J. Miller Lodge #204 , F. &A.M. He graduated from Thomson High School and attended the University of Georgia . He served in the U. S. Navy where he was an original member of the U. S. Navy Band Sea Chanters, the Navy Chorus. Mr. Johnson was an Inspector with Alcohol and Tobacco Tax Division of the Internal Revenue Service . He was the sales manager of Johnson Union 76 service station in Thomson. He authored and compiled a book, William Johnson, Sr. 1750-1830. The Johnsons of Warren County, Georgia. The book was the genealogy of the Johnsons, Harts, and Pooles. Memorials may be made to the Music Ministry Organ Fund First United Methodist Church, 353 Main Street Thomson, Ga. 30824. Friends may call the residence of Charles H. and Marilynn Bellmann 3 Heritage Way Thomson, Ga. or from 3:00 until 5:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
