Evelyn P. Dixon (TIFTON, Ga.)



TIFTON, Ga. - Evelyn Lucille Peters Dixon, 78, of Tifton, died Friday, September 15, 2006 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 17, 2006, at the First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. T. Manuel Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Tifton First Church of the Nazarene Building Fund. Ray Dean, Richard Dean, Ivey Peters, Jonathan Long, Marvin Brooks, Don Jordan, Gary Abell and Larry Dotson will serve as pallbearers. Born August 1, 1928 in Tifton to the late I.D. Peters and Mollie Miley Peters, Mrs. Dixon was also preceded in death by her husband, Alven Jackson "A.J." Dixon, Sr. Mrs. Dixon was a lifetime resident of Tifton and was an inspector with the Tifton Coca-Cola Bottling Co. She was the last surviving charter member of the Tifton FirstChurch of the Nazarene where she was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class and very active in church work. She loved her family. Mrs. Dixon is survived by one son and one daughter-in-law, Alven and Joyce Dixon of Evans; one daughter and one son-in-law, Kristie and Bruce Shiver of Tifton; one brother and one sister-in-law, J.D. "Buddy" and Shirley Peters of Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister, Ruth Dean of Tifton; her grandchildren, Tosca Dixon, Tammy and Jonathan Long, and Leah Shiver and her great-grandchildren, Stephen, Daniel and Nathan Long; and several nieces and nephews.
