When Kenneth and Dianne Ward moved into their North Augusta home in 1994, they had few neighbors.
"The roads were dirt, and there may not have been 12 houses here," said Mr. Ward, who has seen dozens more homes built in the Lakes and Streams subdivision in the ensuing years.
The couple built their home on a lot overlooking the lake.
"We liked the atmosphere," Mrs. Ward said.
After living in a one-story, ranch-style home for many years, Mrs. Ward chose a two-story traditional plan for their current home. A lover of pastels and flowers, Mrs. Ward has incorporated those elements into her dcor.
