'Smokey Joe's Cafe'

The Aiken Community Playhouse will present Smokey Joe's Cafe at 3 p.m. today at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts, 126 Newberry St., Aiken. Polo championship

The USPA Gold Cup Polo Championship will begin at 4 p.m. today and Sundays, Sept. 24 and Oct. 1, at the New Bridge Polo and Country Club, 836 New Bridge Road, Aiken. Gates will open at 2 p.m. and the Polo Pavilion will open at 3 p.m. General admission is $6 in advance and $10 at the gate.

Republicans meet

The Aiken Republican Club will hold its next meeting Monday at Newberry Hall, 117 Newberry St., Aiken. The social time is at 11:30 a.m., and lunch will be served at noon.
