James Chandler Krewson (AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest on Sunday, September 10, 2006, at Doctor's Hospital, Mr. James Chandler Krewson, beloved husband of Jean G. Krewson of Harlem, GA. Mr. Krewson was a lifelong resident of Augusta. He graduated from The Academy of Richmond County where he participated in track and field. He served his country during WWII in the Army Air Corps 314th Squadron. After being discharged from the service he worked as an Aircraft Mechanic at Bush Field . Mr. Krewson worked for Sears Roebuck for 20 years as a Display Manager and later as the Art Director for Channel 6, where he retired after 20 years. After retirement, he continued the art of sign painting for many local businesses. He enjoyed his 59 years of marriage to Jean Garrick Krewson. Mr. Krewson was of the Presbyterian faith. In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter, Gayle Duffie and her husband Steve of Evans; his sons, James "Rusty" Krewson of Harlem, GA and Richard "Rick" L. Krewson and his wife Deborah of Augusta; grandchildren, Kelly DeRoller Rubio and her husband Didier and Jennifer Lynn DeRoller; brothers, Jack Krewson and his wife JoAnn of Oak Ridge, TN and Luther Krewson and his wife Martha of Huntsville, AL. and a sister: Ann Thrift and her husband Spencer of Augusta. Mr. Krewson was preceded in death by his brother, Lawrence Krewson and his sister, Louise Kelly. A memorial service will be conducted on Wednesday, September 13, 2006, 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, September 12, 2006 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the residence of Gayle and Steve Duffie.
