Season Preview: Glascock County

Head coach: Chris Kelley (Fifth year)

Classification: GHSA Region 7-A (non-region)

2005 record: 0-10

Four-year record (since 2002): 4-35

Last playoff appearance: N/A

Returning starters: 8 offense, 7 defense

Key Panthers: Junior RB/DB Antuan Harris (5-9, 150); Sophomore RB Dontavais Gibson (5-10, 175); Senior LB Andrew Latimer (6-3, 185); Senior G/LB Brent Lamb (6-1, 200); Senior OT Thomas Davis (6-0, 235)

Offensive attack: They should be a force along a non-region schedule with their Wing-T. Harris has a fine all-around game and ran for 744 yards last year. Gibson is a speed back. Davis has started on the line since his freshman year.

Defensive keys: The 50 front will be backed up a solid linebacker contingent. Latimer had 101 tackles last year and Lamb is a fine tackler. Sophomore DL Brett Algier (5-7, 175) is slight, but he'll cause enough trouble by shooting the gaps on the line. Harris will be an asset in coverage. Junior LB Rudy Johnson (6-2, 195) is another returning starter at linebacker.

Thin at: Offensive line

Big game: At Trion, Oct. 14

Different this year: Glascock plays a non-region schedule.

Could go bad if: The injury bug strikes. This roster would be thin even if another 10 players showed up.

Great year if: A few victories spark some momentum in the program after a few lean years. A five-win season would surpass the win total over the past four years.
