Head coach: Chuck Conley (Second year)
Classification: GHSA Region 3-A
2005 record: 2-8
Four-year record (since 2002): 8-32
Last playoff appearance: 1987
Returning starters: 4 offense, 4 defense
Key Eagles: Sophomore RB Quentin Jenkins (5-10, 180); Junior RB Boyd Sassor (5-10, 175); Junior RB Patrick Moody (5-9, 175); Sophomore QB Houston Bowers (6-3, 175); Sophomore LB/RB Dontavious Young (5-10, 170)
Offensive attack: The primary look will be the I-formation, as the tailback spot is the deepest position on the team. Jenkins, Moody and Sassor must be careful. They've got skill but will run behind a suspect offensive line. They must hold on to the ball.
Defensive keys: The defensive line is the biggest worry of the team's base 50 scheme. There's not much beef to go around. Junior DE Keonte Gross (6-3, 240) is one of the few stalwarts. Junior DE Akeem Williams (6-0, 200) provides a nice bookend along with Gross on the perimeter. Senior DT Donatavious Reed (5-9, 160) is slight but is one of the team's most effective players.
Thin at: Offensive and defensive line
Big game: At Savannah Country Day, Oct. 13
Different this year: Not much. But it's the first full off-season with Conley in the fold.
Could go bad if: The offensive line never comes together and the sophomores all play like sophomores with scant playing time.
Great year if: The offense becomes a solid group that can score and move the chains. That's the big thing. That and taking care of the football and decent special teams play could lead to a winning season. That would be the first since 1999.
