Head coach: Shane Williamson (Fourth year)
Classification: GHSA Region 3-AA
2005 record: 4-6
Four-year record (since 2002): 24-20
Last playoff appearance: 2004
Returning starters: 6 offense, 8 defense
Key Tigers: Senior DT Dwight Smith (6-2, 270); Senior FS/RB Neal David (5-10, 160); Senior LB/RB Derrick Smith (6-3, 190); Junior DB/RB Darien Davis (5-7, 150); Senior DT/OG Daniel Waller (6-3, 225)
Offensive attack: Junior QB Rashad James (6-1, 175) brings a good arm and experience to the wishbone. The Tigers scored more than eight points in only three games last year. David, Davis and Smith must make their share of plays in the backfield for that to improve. Senior newcomer Jamel Turner (6-4, 210) could be a receiving threat.
Defensive keys: The line is the deepest position on the team. Davis is an effort player at DB. There's much to fix with eight starters back from a group that gave up 35 or more points in five games last year. Junior DT Derrick Shuemake (6-2, 235) can rush the passer. He'll be part of a tough 50 front with Dwight Smith at tackle and Usery at end.
Thin at: Secondary
Big game: Vs. Laney, Sept. 29
Different this year: A new region and a much easier nonregion schedule.
Could go bad if: This is a proud program that's hit hard times. Good things must come early to avoid a fourth losing season in five years.
Great year if: Notching seven wins in the regular season leads to a postseason victory or two. The defense must play a lot better for that to happen.
