GRANITEVILLE - A deadly week on Aiken County roads continued Friday, with a third fatal wreck in four days.
A woman was killed on U.S. Highway 1 on Friday afternoon in front of the Satcher Ford dealership when two Ford F-150 pickups collided.
Both drivers were taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital "with serious injuries," Aiken County Sheriff Mike Hunt said.
"It's been a bad week," he said.
Sheriff Hunt said the driver of a white F-150 was headed east on U.S. 1 and made a left turn into the Ford dealership at about 3:55 p.m.
A female passenger in that truck was ejected when the truck was hit on the passenger side by a black F-150 that was heading west on U.S. 1.
The woman died at the scene. Her name and the names of the injured were not immediately available.
On Tuesday, a 53-year-old Aiken resident, John Andrew Nealious, died on U.S. Highway 278 near Petticoat Junction when a driver veered into his lane and hit him head-on.
On Thursday, an 11-year-old Augusta boy, Deandre C. Williams, was killed when his mother turned her Ford Taurus into the path of a 16-seat bus on U.S. 1 after exiting Interstate 520. The boy was not restrained in the back seat.
