Clyde W. Shinault (AUGUSTA, Ga.)



AUGUSTA, Ga. - Clyde W. Shinault, 83, of Augusta, GA entered into rest Monday, August 7, 2006 at St. Joseph's Hospital. A native of Max Meadows, VA, he was a son of the late Mitchell Anderson Shinault and Emily Rose Adams Shinault, and had lived in Augusta since 1958. He was the husband of the late Vivian Call Shinault who died in 1997. Mr. Shinault retired from the US Army as a Sergeant Major having served during World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post #205, VFW Post #3200, DAV Post #10, AMVET Post #5, Military Order of the Cootie of the US-Pup Tent #3, Voiture 719, La Societe Des 40 Hommes Et 8 Chevaux, and the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter #425. He was also a member of Mann Memorial United Methodist Church. Survivors include his daughter, Suzanne Bowen of Pulaski, VA; five sons, Garland V. Shinault of Radford, VA, John A. Shinault of Houston, TX, Curtis F. Shinault of Monroe, NC, Neal E. Shinault andMarc J. Shinault, both of Augusta; ten grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 11:00AM Thursday, August 10, 2006 at the Poteet Funeral Homes - South Chapel with Rev. Wayne R. Dixon officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 7-9:00PM Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Hospice; 2260 Wrightsboro Rd.; Augusta, GA 30904.
