Norma Ringson (AUGUSTA, Ga.)



AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Norma Hair Ringson entered into rest Saturday, August 5, 2006 at Brandon Wilde Retirement Community. Mrs. Ringson was born in Atlanta, GA. to the late Martha Elizabeth Rumley and William Clifton Hair, Sr. She was a graduate of Commercial High School in Atlanta. Mrs. Ringson worked as an Office Manager in the Optical Department of Rich's in Atlanta. She married William Raymond Ringson on October 3, 1936 who preceded her in death in 1979. She moved to Augusta in 1938 when her husband became Manager of WRDW Radio Station. In business with her husband, she served as secretary of Augusta Broadcasting, Inc., operating Radio Station WBIA. Mrs. Ringson was a member of the Augusta Junior Woman's Club, the Augusta Woman's Club, Forest Hills Garden Club, Women's Board of University Hospital volunteering in the gift shop for more than 20 years. She served on the Health Education Committee and the Board of the YWCA. She was a Charter member and past President of the Azalea Garden Club and active on the Augusta Council of Garden Clubs. She was an Honorary Life Member of the Garden Club of Georgia. Mrs. Ringson was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at Westover Memorial Park with Dr. Robert Watkins officiating. Family members include two daughters Martha Herrington (Terry) of Gulf Breeze, FL, and Beverly Dorn (Wallace/Deceased) of Martinez; four grandchildren, Terry Pollard Herrington, Jr. (Dawn Marquardt) of Gulf Breeze, FL, Marlee Dorn Givens (Darin) of Atlanta, Raymond Ringson Herrington (Amy) of Pensacola, FL, and Jennifer Jeanne Dorn of Augusta and two great-grandchildren, Raymond Ringson Herrington, Jr., and Sara Louise Herrington of Pensacola, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Terry Herrington, Jr., Ray Herrington, Jennifer Dorn, Michael Smith, Ernest Mitchell and James Menger. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of Covenant Presbyterian Church, 3131 Walton Way, Augusta, Georgia 30909. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 8, 2006 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 1134 Telfair Street, Augusta, Georgia 30901.
