Ethel C. Shelton (THOMSON, Ga.)



THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Ethel Cranford Shelton, age 76, 159 Pinedale Drive, entered into rest Friday, July 28, 2006 at Medical College of Georgia. She was the beloved wife of the late Mr. Joseph O. Shelton. Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 P. M. Monday July 31, 2006 at Prospect United Methodist Church with Elder George Nichols, Rev. Stan Holsonback and Rev. Susan Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Shelton will lie in state one hour prior to funeral services at the church. Mrs. Shelton, a native of Warren County was the daughter of the late J. C. and Ola Mae Johnson Cranford. She was a homemaker and a member of the Prospect United Methodist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class. Mrs. Shelton was a member and Past Matron of the Frances Bell Chapter # 75 O.E.S. and a former secretary of the North Atlantic Girl Scouts of Europe and a Girl Scout leader. Survivors include four daughters, Elaine S. (Bill) Dent, Hawkinsville, GA, Linda S. (George) Nichols, Thomson, GA, Susan S. (Jaffrey) Montgomery, Warrenton, GA, and Brenda S. (Dale) Reed, Mitchell, GA; two sisters, Gloria Williams, and Pansy Pearson both of Thomson, GA; two brothers, Ronnie Cranford, Thomson, GA and Jimmy Cranford, Athens, GA; seven grandchildren, George Scott Nichols, Joe Dent, Bobby Montgomery, Kimberly Gunby, Gary Dent, Kristen Nichols, and J. C. Montgomery; one great-grandson, Joshua Ryan Montgomery. Pallbearers will be Guy Shivers, Alan Johnson, James Cranford, Chris Gunby, Bobby Montgomery, Joey Dent, and Gary Dent. Memorials may be made to the Prospect United Methodist Church C/O Mrs. Robin Johnson 6681 Cadley Road Norwood, GA 30821 Friends may call at the residence. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 PM Sunday evening, July 30 at the funeral home.
