James Bryant Rachels (AUGUSTA, Ga.)



AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. James Bryant Rachels, II, 64, entered into rest Monday, July 24, 2006 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Augusta. Graveside services will be held Thursday, (Today) at 4:00 P.M. in Hillcrest Memorial Park with Brother Lance Halford officiating. Mr. Rachels was native of Augusta and the son of the late Willie Earnest Rachels Sr. and Mary Mills Rachels. He was a beloved father and served in the US Army in Vietnam. Mr. Rachels was retired as a painter with the Richmond County Board Of Education and attended McBean Baptist Church. Mr. Rachels was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Willie Ernest Rachels, Jr. , Foster Eugene Rachels, Bertha Martin and Barbara Ernestine Herrington. Survivors include two sons, Jason Wayne Rachels of Atlanta, Troy Rachels and Kenneth K.C. Chaney both of Augusta, three daughters, Amy Ryan of Augusta, Cynthia Wright of Jackson, S.C. and Linda Rachels of Augusta, three sisters, MargaretElizabeth Caraway and Nettie Flo Furr both of Augusta and Mary Ann Rachels of Louisville, Ky. and several grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Richard Furr, Kenneth Chaney, J.T. Broomfield, Jeff Ryan, Everett Caraway and Ozzie Byrd.
