Police said an Augusta woman will be charged with second-degree vehicular homicide in connection with a wreck in which an Evans woman was killed Monday.
Kelly O'Quinn, 30, who was ruled at fault in the two-car accident, suffered a seizure just before the wreck occurred at about 1 p.m. in the 300 block of Old Evans Road in Martinez, Columbia County sheriff's Capt. Steve Morris said.
Peggy Elizabeth Taylor, 50, of the 4700 block of Walnut Hill Drive, died, Columbia County Deputy Coroner Vernon Collins said.
Mr. Collins said an autopsy will be performed today at the Atlanta GBI crime lab. He said Mrs. Taylor worked as a physical therapist.
Mrs. Taylor was traveling north in a green Honda Civic when her car was struck head-on by a white Ford Crown Victoria driven by Ms. O'Quinn, Columbia County sheriff's Staff Sgt. Tim Perry said.
Ms. O'Quinn's vehicle left the road, struck a trash can on the southbound shoulder, re-entered the road and drifted into the northbound lane, where it struck the Civic, Staff Sgt. Perry said.
She was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital and was listed in fair condition Monday afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Capt. Morris said Ms. O'Quinn also will be charged with failure to maintain her lane.
