Ice Cream Social

First Presbyterian Church, which laid the cornerstone for its sanctuary July 4, 1809, will have a brass band and an ice cream social on the bill for 8 p.m. Sunday at the church, 642 Telfair St. Patrons are asked to bring hand-churned ice cream.

The sanctuary, designed by Washington Monument architect Robert Mills, was completed in 1812.

Liberty on lake

It will be family-style games to open Liberty on the Lake at 3 p.m. Monday at the Little River Marina and Family Resort, 4271 Old Lincolnton Road in Appling. Praise and worship, big band and bluegrass sounds will be on stage at 6 p.m., leading up to fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Cost is $3 for adults and $2 for children, age 3 through 11. God and country

West Acres Baptist Church Celebration Choir and Orchestra will present an outdoor God-and-country concert at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Columbia County Amphitheater, located behind the Columbia County Library, 720 N. Belair Road in Evans. Bring lawn chairs and blankets. Concessions will be available from Cutie Pies. Call (706) 860-6573.

Prayer gathering

Patriotic tunes

The Boogie Sisters, actor Robert Rollins and the Independence Day Chorus and Orchestra will perform patriotic music at 8 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 605 Reynolds St. Admission is free for students and those under age 18, $10 for adults. Special-needs VBS

Special-needs adults can find adventure in the Arctic Edge vacation Bible school from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays through July at Bayvale Baptist Church, 2240 Bayvale Road. Volunteers give one-on-one assistance to each person attending. Call (706) 733-8128.

Donations needed

Furniture and household items for the Augusta Urban Ministries furniture bank will be collected from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the ministry warehouse, 303 Hale St.; Burns Memorial United Methodist Church, 2372 Lumpkin Road; and Marvin United Methodist Church, 4400 Wheeler Road in Martinez.
