Frank Buck (NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C.)



NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Mr. Frank Buck, beloved husband of Sue Buck, went to be with Jesus on Thursday June 22, 2006, early in the morning. He died peacefully at his residence at 110 Nutgrove Ave. in North Augusta. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, June 24, 2006 at Belvedere First Baptist Church with Rev. John Meyer, Dr. Roy Head, and Rev. Tommy Knotts officiating. Pallbearers will be Joe Britt, Jack McDaniel, Fuzz Hamrick, Gerald McNeal, Ernest Towner, James (Chick) Williamson, Marty Motes, and J.C. McCormick. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Victory Sunday School Class, Belvedere Masonic Lodge, Lanyce Hatcher, Jake Hatcher, Allen Hatcher, and Janine Garropy. Mr. Buck retired from the Augusta Chronicle after 45 years of service and currently was employed as a produce salesman in Columbia County where he was known as 'Peach Man.' Frank had worked in security during the Masters Tournament at Augusta National for 25 years. He also served as a substitute teacher in the North Augusta Schools and was known as Uncle Buck. He was also a member of Belvedere Masonic Lodge and currently served as Chaplain. Mr. Buck was also a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Belvedere First Baptist Church where he taught the Victory Sunday School Class and has also served as a Deacon. As a young man he attended Crawford Ave. Baptist Church where he served in many capacities. Mr. Buck was also known as 'Pop' to his two wonderful grandboys. Frank was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and brother. He will be missed greatly by all of his family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 49 years; a daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Chip Knight, of Lexington, SC; two grandsons, Zach and T.J. Knight; a sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Bobby Padgett, of Martinez, GA, and two nieces, Nancy Padgett, and Molly Boyleston and her husband, Pete; and a great nephew Tyler Boyleston. The family will receive friends at Rowland Funeral Home today from 3 to 5 p.m., and Saturday at the church one hour before the service. Memorials may be made to Belvedere First Baptist Church P.O.
