Writer may want to check the numbers
Regarding the guest column "Put gas prices in right perspective" (June 19): In 1981, gas was 81 cents per gallon, not $1.41 per gallon. Gas cost more than $1.40 per gallon in August 2003. In February 2000 the cost of gas was $1.06 to $1.16 per gallon. I challenge The Augusta Chronicle to check its archives for the cost of gas between 1979 and 1983. It was never $2 per gallon.Chris L.
