AIKEN, S.C. - Mary Katherine "Kay" Cain Aubrey passed away on Friday, June 16, 2006 at Aiken Regional Medical Center. Born in San Antonio, Texas to the late Mary Katherine Wolf Cain and the late John Cain. Kay graduated from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio with a Batchelor of Arts and received her Masters degree from the University of South Carolina. Kay was a teacher in the Aiken County School District. In 1989, she was nominated as South Carolina Teacher of the Year representing Warrenville Elementary School. She retired from the Aiken County School District as a teacher after twenty five years and continued that passion as a volunteer teacher for several more years. Prior to that time she worked for the Federal Government as an Assistant Office Manager for Social Security in Los Angeles, California; a Field Representative for Social Security in Fort Eustis, VA, and as a counselor in the State Department in Washington, DC. She wasa member of the Saint Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. She is survived by her loving and adoring husband of 60 years, R. A. "Doc" Aubrey; by her son, John C. Aubrey and his wife, Amy, of Houston, TX; her daughters Katherine "Cindy" Speicher and her husband, Jim, of Shawnee, KS and her daughter Linda Aubrey and her husband, Edward "Cal" Calhoun, of Raleigh, NC; as well as by her five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. There will be a Memorial Service, including Mass, Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Aiken. AUGUSTA, Ga. - Stewart Calvin Lilly, beloved husband and father, entered into rest on Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. Stewart is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty Jo Helmintoller Lilly; his two sons, Michael Stewart Lilly and Rayman L. Lilly; and his daughter, Hallie Lilly Merry, all of Augusta. He was 68. He retired in 2001 after 40 years of service from International Paper as a safety instructor at the Augusta plant. Stewart lived in Augusta 31 years. He was a member and deacon of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. He was actively involved in sports his entire life: He played football in high school, was an avid golfer and handball player, and he coached teams which included both his sons. Stewart considered his most important achievement his family which includes six grandchildren to whom he was devoted: Robert Cozart, Kay Lilly, Jonathon Lilly, Jordan Lilly, Mason Lilly, and Veronica Merry. Stewart exemplified the values from his upbringing in the mountains of West Virginia. He was kind, considerate and faithful; he knew no strangers. To this union was born Marilyn Ann. Mrs. Cherry served 35 years as a junior high and elementary school educator. She was a member and deaconess of Friendship Baptist Church, Aiken, S.C.; president of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Alpha Zeta Chapter, Talladega College; a member of the Delvers Bridge Club of Aiken; and a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Effingham Lodge, No. 98, Aiken. AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Saturday, June 17, 2006 at Doctors Hospital, Mrs. Eugenia Rodgers Dinkins, 86, wife of 49 years to the late Ernest Dinkins. Mrs. Dinkins was a native and life long resident of Augusta and North Augusta. She retired in 1983 as a Veteran Benefits Counselor after 23 years for the Georgia Department of Veterans Services. She was an active member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Mrs. Dinkins worked with the Council of Catholic Women on the parish, deanery and diocesan levels. She also worked with parochial school activities at Sacred Heart and Aquinas. Mrs. Dinkins was Editor of the Women's Page of the Southern Cross newspaper for the Dioceses of Savannah and served several years on C.Y.O. Advisory Committee. She was the first Catholic woman to be a member of the Executive Board of the Augusta Council of Church Women United. She served as tour guide for 10 years at Sacred Heart Cultural Center.
