GEORGIA MUSIC TEEN CONTEST: The deadline is July 11 for entering the 2006 talent contest, sponsored in connection with the Georgia Music Hall Fame awards. Entrants must be 15 to 18, a single performer, a Georgia high school student and a Georgia resident. TECH ED DEAL: The Technical Scholars Initiative at Aiken Technical College offers free tuition and books, plus a part-time job in six technical careers for 10 students. Applicants must have a high school diploma or a GED, be at least 18 years old at the beginning of the semester of admission and meet all academic entrance requirements for their selected program.
