'The Da Vinci Code'
RELEASED: May 17
MPAA RATING: PG-13
MY THOUGHTS: Dan Brown's book is brought to the screen by director Ron Howard in this thought-provoking story of two murder suspects searching for clues to a secret. Many people are willing to die to protect this secret, and thousands supposedly have.
Though it was greeted with jeers from the Cannes Film Festival in France, remember that France plays a prominent role in the story and is a largely Catholic country. Politics aside, it makes for an interesting story and film, but please tread lightly; remember, it's only fiction.

'The Life Pursuit'
By: Belle and Sebastian
RELEASED: Feb. 6 in the U.K., now getting play in the U.S.
MY THOUGHTS: This band from Glasgow, Scotland, shines on the disc, its seventh. The band stays true to its late-1960s sound with a mellow blend of early Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel and Bee Gees.
Laced with the eloquent vocabulary and amusing witticisms Belle and Sebastian is known for, the band paints portraits of the daily losses and victories of an everyday person. A pleasant, amusing and, at times, provocative listen.
