Mary Katherine Aubrey (AIKEN, S.C.)



AIKEN, S.C. - Mary Katherine "Kay" Cain Aubrey passed away on Friday, June 16, 2006 at Aiken Regional Medical Center. Born in San Antonio, Texas to the late Mary Katherine Wolf Cain and the late John Cain. Kay graduated from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio with a Batchelor of Arts and received her Masters degree from the University of South Carolina. Kay was a teacher in the Aiken County School District. In 1989, she was nominated as South Carolina Teacher of the Year representing Warrenville Elementary School. She retired from the Aiken County School District as a teacher after twenty five years and continued that passion as a volunteer teacher for several more years. Prior to that time she worked for the Federal Government as an Assistant Office Manager for Social Security in Los Angeles, California; a Field Representative for Social Security in Fort Eustis, VA, and as a counselor in the State Department in Washington, DC. She wasa member of the Saint Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. She is survived by her loving and adoring husband of 60 years, R. A. "Doc" Aubrey; by her son, John C. Aubrey and his wife, Amy, of Houston, TX; her daughters Katherine "Cindy" Speicher and her husband, Jim, of Shawnee, KS and her daughter Linda Aubrey and her husband, Edward "Cal" Calhoun, of Raleigh, NC; as well as by her five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. There will be a Memorial Service, including Mass, Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Aiken. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Parish Hall. Flowers will be accepted or in lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in memory of Mary Katherine "Kay" Aubrey.
