EVANS, Ga. - Mrs. Mary Emma Blanchard Anderson, 4275 Owens Road died on June 17, 2006. She now celebrates renewed life in heaven with her Lord Jesus Christ. A service to remember and celebrate her life will be at 12 Noon on Monday June 19, 2006 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Rodger Murchison and Dr. Greg DeLoach officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Mrs. Anderson was the wife of the late Dr. Robert Edward Anderson. They were married forty-two years before Dr. Anderson died in 1977. Surviving are her three children and their spouses; Bobby and Jane Anderson, Walter and Jane Anderson and Mary A. and Bert Moody all of Augusta, Georgia; her brother, Russell A. Blanchard and his wife Libby of Augusta, Georgia; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Rob Anderson and his wife Fran of Nashville, Tennessee; Jennifer A. Morgan and her husband John, Beth A. Cullinan, Rebecca A. Dempsey and her husband John, Rachel M. Osbon and her husband Chris, Maryanna M. Thornton and her husband Jay all of Augusta, Georgia and Bert Moody and his wife Denise of Arlington, Massachusetts; and nine great grandchildren; Joe and Cooper Anderson, Menger and McKenzie Morgan, Liam Thornton, Emily Ellis Osbon, Morgan Cullinan, Emma Dempsey and Rocky Murphey, and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Her parents, the late Walter and Rachel Chapman Blanchard and her brother, the late James Blanchard, preceded her in death. Mary Emma lived a good life of ninety-six years in Augusta and North Augusta. Family, friends, and church meant much to her. She blessed and influenced many lives and was a life-long source of strong support for her family. She served her church faithfully, teaching teenagers and young women in Sunday school and serving the Baptist Women's Missionary Union for many years. Mary Emma was active in church committee work and honored to serve as chairperson of the Sanctuary Building Committee for the present location of FirstBaptist Church of Augusta. A graduate of Augusta Junior College and Tift College, she taught high school in North Augusta, South Carolina. Mary Emma served in the Augusta Community as a committed volunteer for the Talmadge Memorial Hospital polio ward. She was an active member of the Forest Hills Garden Club and the Augusta Dental Wives Auxiliary. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and her grandsons-in-law. The family wishes to thank the nursing staff and caregivers at Brandon Wilde and at St. Joseph Hospice for their care and concern.
