'X-Men: The last stand'

RELEASED: May 26

MPAA RATING: PG-13

MY THOUGHTS: Though there was some doubt about whether the new director, Brett Ratner, was up to the job of this third installment of the X-Men series, after seeing the movie it seems he did very well. The special effects are gorgeous, and the film ably appeases the comic-book fans and entertains the regular movie patrons.

The movie is so dazzling in its performance that one can overlook its minor flaws, such as the strange plot about the still-alive Jean Grey. It's worth the admission price.

'The Break-Up'

RELEASED: June 2

MPAA RATING: PG-13

MY THOUGHTS: Art dealer Brooke (Jennifer Anniston) and boyfriend Gary (Vince Vaughn) decide to end their relationship after numerous petty arguments. A battle for their condo arises and the two formulate tactics to drive the other one out. After several attempts, Brooke discovers what she really wants: Gary. The movie is simple, but with Mr. Vaughn, there are instances of hilarity.
