John C. Harris (AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. John C. Harris, of 2807 Hazel Street, Augusta, departed this life on June 10, 2006 at 12:35 a.m. in the Veteran's Hospital. Per John's final request, there will be no funeral service but a viewing will be held Wednesday, June 14, 2006 from 12 noon until 6 p.m. John, a dedicated father and widower, was born February 10, 1952 in Lincolnton, Ga. He was the last of two sons born to the late James and the late Carrie Harris. God shared His child with us for a few short years and has now sent His angels to bring him home to rest in His bosom. He leaves to cherish his memories, his daughters, Mary D. Harris and Scarlett Harris; sons, Marty D. Harris and Dennis Harris; grandson, Kaylan Harris; sisters, Shirley Lanham, Marty Joshua (Michael Joshua, Sr.), Mary L. Harris, Idell Harris, Eloise Mathis (Riley Mathis, Sr.) Fannie Harris-Livings (John Livings) and Sidonia Appiah (Jonathan Appiah); a very close nephew, James "Peanut" Harris, a host of nieces, nephews and many friends. John grew up in Augusta and at an early age he joined the United States Army where he served his country proudly and with honors. He will always remain a "Hero" in the eyes of his country and the family and friends he's leaving behind. And until we see him again at the Great Homecoming, he will remain deep in our hearts and souls forever. Sign the guestbook at AugustaChronicle.com
