EVANS, Ga. - Susan Karnowski, 59, beloved daughter, wife, mother and friend passed away Friday, June 9, 2006 at her residence after a long battle with ovarian cancer. Funeral services will be held at Grace Baptist Church on Tuesday, June 13 at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend William E. Hilley officiating. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Sue was born in Boone, Iowa where she lived until age 12. She moved to San Diego, CA with her family and graduated from Herbert Hoover High School in 1965. She married Lawrence Stephen Karnowski, Jr. in 1966. Sue moved to many places with her family until settling in Columbia County in 1985. Sue survived cancer in her early 20's in a miraculous way and that experience birthed a new faith in her. She promised God that if she lived to see her children grow up, she would live for Him. She honored that promise by pouring her life into all those with whom she came in contact: wayward teenagers, abandoned wives, and lost souls found comfort in her presence. She was well known in the Christian community for her faithfulness to God, wonderful sense of humor and generous spirit. She touched the lives of many people wherever she went. A past member of both Martinez Baptist Church and Marvin United Methodist Church, she most recently served Grace Baptist Church. She used her beautiful voice in the church chorus and as a member of the Augusta Choral Society. She was also instrumental in the growth and development of the Emmaus community. She was a member of Bible Study Fellowship for seven years. She served various volunteer church and community organizations. She enjoyed music and reading, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her husband, Steve Karnowski of Evans, GA.; her father, William Roy Buck and her mother, Janet Buck of San Diego, CA; her children, John and Peggy Karnowski of Duluth, GA, Steve and Erin Karnowski of Oklahoma City, OK, and Marron and Don Harper of Evans, GA. She is also survived by her Uncle John and Aunt Barbara Veale of Boone, IA and Uncle Joe and Margie Veale of Escondido, CA, and eight grandchildren, Aaron, Bethany, Rachel, Elissa, Brianna, Jaden, Lawson, and Landon. Sue was much loved and will be deeply missed by many more others. The family will receive friends on Monday June 12, 2006 from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Platt's Funeral Home on Belair Road. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Sue's name to Grace Baptist Church, 4945 Hardy McManus Road Evans, Georgia 30809 or to Good News Network (FM 91.7), P.O. Box 510, Appling, GA 30802.
