BATH, S.C-. Entered into rest Saturday, June 10, 2006, Mrs. Helen McDowell, 86, of Bath, SC, wife of the late Robert "Bob" McDowell. Born in Lancaster, SC, she was a daughter of the late William Thomas and Mary Robinson Mattox. She retired from Clearwater Finishing Plant after twenty years of service. Mrs. McDowell, the longest active member of Bath First Baptist Church, was active in many church activities. Surviving are a daughter Mary M. and her husband Ronald Dees, North Augusta, SC; son, William Kem McDowell and his wife Lynn, Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Christopher Dees, North Augusta, SC and Bill McDowell and his wife Jennifer, Charlotte, NC; a great-granddaughter, Kaleigh McDowell, Charlotte, NC; nieces, Doris Clark, Bath, SC and Bonnie Lanier, North Augusta, SC and a nephew, Everette Baker, Bath, SC. In addition to her parents and her husband of forty-two years, she was preceded in death by her brother, ClydeMattox, sister, Irene Mattox, and her granddaughter, Mary Rebecca Dees. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at 10:00 AM at Bath First Baptist Church with Rev. Herb Sons officiating. Pallbearers will be Everette Baker, Joe Padget, Capers Asbill, Jack Williams, Herman Parker, and Jimmy Powell. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC. Mrs. McDowell will be placed in the church at 9:00 Tuesday morning. The family has asked that those who wish it may make memorials to Bath First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 240, Bath, SC 29816-0240. Friends may call at the home of Ronald and Mary Dees, 940 Medie Ave., North Augusta, SC.
