OBERWALTERSDORF, Austria - Markus Brier became the first Austrian winner on the PGA European Tour, shooting a 3-under-par 68 Sunday to capture the BA-CA Austrian Open by three strokes.
Brier entered the day ahead by a stroke and finished at 18-under 266 total. Soren Hansen of Denmark (65) was at 269 and Simon Dyson of England (71) was at 270.
Brier won the Austrian Open as a Challenger event in 2002 and 2004.
Hansen made four straight birdies to tie Brier at the 11th hole. Brier then ran off three birdies and Hansen bogeyed the 16th. Brier birdied the final hole.
Richard Green of Australia was at 271 after shooting a 63, matching the best round of the day. Gregory Havret of France also had a 63 and was 12 strokes behind the leader.
