Jeannie S. Burris (MARTINEZ, Ga.)



MARTINEZ, Ga. - Mrs. Jeannie Stump Burris, entered into rest Saturday June 3, 2006 surrounded by her loving family. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday, June 5, 2006 at Platts Funeral Home Belair Road Chapel with Rev. Dr. J. Andrew Menger officiating. A native of Augusta, Georgia, Jeannie was the daughter of the late Carl Martin Stump and the late Nellie Reynolds Stump. She was a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia where she received her Bachelor of Science and Master's degree in Nursing. Jeannie's most recent position in nursing was for the Dialysis Corporation of America where she was the Clinical Services Coordinator. She was also a member of Church of the Good Shepherd. She had a passion for reading, gardening, and especially enjoyed nature, wildlife and hiking in the North Georgia Mountains. Jeannie devoted her life to ministering to the needs of patients, mentoring and teaching nurses, as well as caring for her family and friends. She approached her recent illness with the same spunk and fierce determination. When it became apparent that her days on earth were few, she systematically ensured all who loved her knew she faced death simply as another beginning. Jeannie chose hospice care in her beloved home surrounded by family and friends. She leaves a legacy of competence in the Nursing field because of her insatiable quest for excellence. Family include three nephews, Ronald (Skip) Hanson, Jr. (Nan) of Augusta, Steven Hanson (Debbie) of St. Louis, MS and Sam Stump of Grovetown; one niece, Elizabeth Anne Jones of Martinez; one brother, Jim C. Stump (Joyce) of Santee, GA; two sisters, Jane Jones (Raymond) of Grovetown and Susan Joyce Greene of Evans; one great nephew, Randall "Rusty" Cliett of Martinez; and four great nieces, Lydia Elizabeth Hanson of Augusta; Tyler Hanson, Augusta; and Grantham Hanson of St. Louis, MS, and Savanna Grace Stump of Grovetown and some very special friends Bob and Linda Evancic of Martinez, Rob, Kristinia, and Christopher Miller of Dallas, TX The family will receive friends following the service.
