Marjorie Mallard (SARDIS, Ga.)



SARDIS, Ga. - Marjorie Pierce Mallard, 97, entered into rest on Friday, June 2, 2006, at her residence. Mrs. Mallard was born in Screven County, Georgia on March 30, 1909 to the late John and Julia Rackley Pierce and lived in Sardis most of her life since moving from Sylvania in the early 1930's. She was the oldest member of Sardis Baptist Church and was a past member with the Women's Circle. She enjoyed the art of crocheting. She was a loving mother and grandmother; being known affectionally as "Mimi, and her joy was spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, P. G. "Chong" Mallard; sisters, Carrie Lee Mitchell, Nan Reynolds; and brothers, Bernard Pierce, Hubert Pierce, Joel Pierce, and James Pierce. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 5, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at Sardis Baptist Church with Rev. Karen Zeigler and Chaplain Frankie May officiating. Pallbearers will be Cleckly Reddick, Jack Gardner, Grady Dixon, Chip Dixon, Marvin Saxon, and Leon Stokes. Interment will follow at St. Marks Cemetery, Sardis. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 4, 2006, from 4:00p.m.-6:00 p.m. at DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home, Waynesboro, GA. Survivors include two sons, John Mallard (Patty) of Statesboro, GA, and Bill Mallard (Glenda) of Evans, GA; a daughter, Sandra Parkman of Sardis, GA; 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
