AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest on Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at University Hospital, Mrs. Linda Kitchens McDonald, 55, wife of James E. "Sonny" Howell. Mrs. McDonald was a native of Okemah, Oklahoma, but had lived in the Augusta area since 1965. She was a Captain with the Richmond Co. Fire Department and an Assistant Director of Emergency Management. She taught children's fire safety and was known as Cuddles the Clown. She also volunteered with the Burn Foundation. Family members in addition to her husband include her sons: Tony L. Kitchens of Augusta, Johnny McDonald, Jr. of Martinez; mother: Betty Mahaffey of Interlachen, FL and sister and brother-in-law: Lana and Larry Branch. Funeral Services will be held today, Friday, June 2, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Allen McDonald and Rev. Greg Bentley. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Johnny Baxley, Johnny Caran, John Clark of the Augusta Fire Department and family members Bobby Williams, Luther Gaskil and Jeff Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be the Augusta Richmond County Fire Department and the Martinez/Columbia Fire Department.
