Fishing Tournaments

Top Gun Bass Tournament

Sunday at Wildwood Park

Entry fee $25 with 100 percent payback. One-fish limit. Anglers can weigh in just their biggest bass and winner will take all. Tournament hours safe light until 1 p.m. More information: Stephen Bayazes, (803) 279-1120.

Lake Springs Ramp

Entry fee is $22 per boat (with $2 going into the Classic pot). Tournament hours are 6-11 p.m. There is a five-fish limit per team or individual. Payback is based on the number of boats entered each week. Tournaments run through Aug. 19. The Classic will be held Aug. 26, from 5 p.m. to midnight, with an entry fee of $55. Craig Johnson, 15.11 pounds. Gregg Grant, 12.04 pounds. Frank Wodzisz, 7.08 pounds. No big fish. Twelve fishermen caught 39 bass weighing 68.12 pounds, and most were released alive.

July 9, bass tournament, safe light until noon. August: No tournaments scheduled. Sept. 10, bass/crappie tournament, safe light until noon.

Tournaments will be limited to the first 20 boats and are open to all ID cardholders and the public with a Fort Gordon fishing license guest permit. Entry fee is $10 per Fort Gordon Sportsman Club member, $20 per non-member, with an optional $5 big fish pot, with a guaranteed $100 for first place and $50 for second place. Registration is with the club prior to the tournament or 30 minutes before the event's start. State licenses and Fort Gordon fishing permits required.
