'Possible Side Effects' is well worth reading
"Possible Side Effects," a new collection of memoir-style essays from "Running With Scissors" author Augusten Burroughs, isn't as rich as his previous books. Still, many of the stories are memorable and well worth reading.

Commission corrects mistake
It's not easy for elected officials to change their minds - in effect, admitting they made a mistake. Secure borders, control immigration
The concerns for amnesty by illegal aliens come from a desire for Social Security and other federal benefits. After their being in the United States for a couple of years, there's virtually no danger of their being sent home. They can buy forged ID cards, green cards and Social Security cards. It would really be next to impossible to deport 12 million illegal immigrants. The cost would be astronomical. Furthermore, there aren't enough courts in the world to handle this many cases.Tony R. Bledsoe, North Augusta, S.C.

If boy is worth trouble, reveal secret to mom
THIS WEEK'S PROBLEM: I think I love this guy. My mother doesn't know that I love or like him. She bans me from talking to him or even looking at him too hard. She said that she will put him in jail for statutory rape if she sees me with him again. I'm 17 and she can't do that now, and I still want him. What should I do, tell my mother the relationship we have secretly or keep it a secret until I move out the house.
