GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Jason Jacobs had three doubles and three RBIs and Georgia took command with an eight-run third inning to defeat Florida 9-6 and complete a weekend sweep.
Jacobs and Matt Olson each had two-RBI doubles in the big third inning for the Bulldogs (28-16, 10-11 Southeastern Conference), who received strong relief appearances from Nathan Moreau (5-1) and Joshua Fields to hold off the rallying Gators (24-23, 6-15).
Florida's Matt LaPorta smashed a three-run homer, his team-leading 12th of the season, in the bottom of the third to trim the lead to 8-3.
Austin Pride's bases-leaded double in the fifth narrowed the Georgia lead to three. Pride had three hits and three RBIs.
But Moreau threw two scoreless innings in relief to collect the win and Fields tossed two scoreless innings for his eighth save.
Josh Morris and Jonathan Wyatt also had three hits for Georgia.
Chas Spottswood (1-3) failed to make it out of the third inning for Florida.
