Wreck victims are identified
Authorities have identified the two women who were ejected from their vehicle in a crash Saturday night on the Aiken-Augusta Highway.
Lance Cpl. Scot Edgeworth, of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, identified them Sunday as Julie Willis, 45, and Inez Willis, 70, both of Aiken.
Julie Willis was driving a 1999 Chevrolet SUV north on U.S. Highway 1 just before 9 p.m. when she ran off the left side of the road, then overcorrected, causing the vehicle to flip, he said.
Both women were taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital.
According to a hospital spokeswoman, Julie Willis' condition was undetermined and Inez Willis' was serious Sunday night.
The crash occurred about seven miles west of Aiken near Duncan Road.
Traffic in the area was reportedly backed up for about an hour afterward.
Troopers are still investigating the cause, Lance Cpl. Edgeworth said Sunday.
Woman reports shot through her window
An Augusta woman says someone shot a bullet through the bedroom window of her children's room Saturday, according to a Richmond County sheriff's report.
Tosheka Nicole McDaniel, 25, of the 1400 block of Sycamore Drive, said she found the bullet on the window ledge of the bedroom.
No one was injured, and no arrests related to the incident were made over the weekend.
Man shot repeatedly with pellet or BB gun
An 18-year-old Augustan told police that a man drove up to him as he walked along Brookwood Drive on Saturday and fired a pellet gun or BB gun.
According to a Richmond County sheriff's report, Russell Andrew Slendak, of the 1100 block of Brookwood, said he was struck several times in the stomach and back by the pellets.
Officers at the scene said that he had numerous red marks on his skin but that there was no broken skin.
The car was described as a gray Honda Accord with tinted windows.
Woman is charged with prostitution
Police jailed a 37-year-old Augusta woman Sunday on prostitution charges, according to authorities.
Sheila Denise Green, of the 1600 block of Roosevelt Street, was charged with one count of prostitution and taken to the Richmond County jail.
She was arrested at Grand Boulevard and Grant Street.
Volunteer program seeking applicants
The Medical College of Georgia Hospital and Clinics is accepting applications for this year's summer teen volunteer program, which provides high school students with hands-on volunteer experience in health care.
The program will be offered June 12 to July 21.
To be eligible, participants must be 15 years old by May 1. The application deadline is April 30.

Voter registration drives being held
The Richmond County Democratic Party and the Augusta State University Political Science Club will hold voter registration drives from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Augusta State University's Allgood Hall and from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the college's University Hall.
Registrants must be at least 17 years old. No photo ID is required.
Utility work to close lane on Scott Nixon
The right eastbound lane of Scott Nixon Memorial Drive will be closed from Tuesday until Thursday for utility relocations, according to a Georgia Department of Transportation news release.
The closure will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The lane affected will be between Bobby Jones Expressway and Walton Way Extension.
Drivers turning right off Scott Nixon onto Walton Way Extension will still be able to use the right-turn bay at the intersection.
Remembrance of Holocaust planned
Fort Gordon will hold its Holocaust remembrance program at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, a post news release says.
The program will be held at Alexander Hall on Chamberlain Avenue and is open to the public.
The speaker will be Sylvia Wygoda, the chairwoman emeritus of the Georgia Commission on the Holocaust and the executive director of the commission and the Thomas B. Murphy Holocaust Teacher Training and Resource Center.
She serves as chief spokeswoman for Holocaust education in Georgia. She is the daughter of Hermann Wygoda, a Holocaust survivor.
